Last spring hubs came home with some adorable baby chickens. One of them was smaller than the rest and was picked on. Close to the end of summer brother in law brought me a feral cat someone had dumped near his property. A best friend relationship began between Cat and Little Red Hen soon after that.

Where are the connection points to a dishwasher?
Plumbing is becoming my worst nightmare. The plumber we were using either retired or has too much to do to call me back. Actually he never calls back, just shows up at my door a day or so after I leave a message and fixed the latest problem. This time he didn't call or come by so I found a handyman that is a whiz at plumbing to replace the crumbling pipes under the bathroom sink and to install a new kitchen faucet. I was thrilled to get all that done for a very reasonable price. Then the ancient dishwasher stopped working. That lead to pulling it out and discovering a disaster in plumbing and electrical issues hidden behind it.

Dutch Oven Cooking at Copper Breaks State Park-Texas Parks and Wildlife
We were excited and privileged to attend a hands-on workshop on Dutch Oven Cooking in the Texas Copper Breaks State Park in Hardeman County. Horse trainer and cowboy musician Larry Hannon lead the workshop. He and his wife Sharon create and conduct workshops for schools, civic organizations, the Doss Ranching Center and Copper Breaks State Park. It is such a fun learning experience.

When the rules change
I never heard of Oath 1.0 until today. Supposedly that is why switching from Blogger to Wordpress or Wordpress.com to WP.org doesn’t import stuff. It is also why Windows LiveWriter and Mars Edit stopped working with Blogger. That is how it affected me. I almost always write on LW and import to Blogger when suddenly it didn’t do that anymore. ARGH! Technology. Always evolving and improving but sometimes it’s painful. Thank goodness Microsoft fixed the sign in problem with LiveWriter and it now works! I wrote this post in LW as a test.

How to get a beautiful perfectly peeled egg experiment.
Once upon a time I was a child bride who didn’t know very much about cooking. Actually I sucked at it and some things I still have no talent making. In particular I am a boiled egg failure. As much as hubs and I love deviled eggs I never got those beautiful perfectly peeled eggs I see at church luncheons. As much as I enjoy eggs in a variety of recipes I have not enjoyed the headache of getting an egg to peel cleanly. With that in mind I headed to my Facebook page and asked for advice. How do you boil your eggs so they peel easily? The responses were varied and very informative. I experimented by trying out the suggested methods and am no longer a boiled egg failure.

Instant Happy #22 and linky
I conquer fear … by recognizing whether the fear is rational or lack of information. Spider in my path do I turn and leave... room is dark do I turn on the light...need to make a speech do I throw up and leave...booger under the bed do I flip off the light and jump on top... or If it is simply because I haven't the experience to know what is beyond- I take a breath, sometimes close my eyes and just DO IT. What is that FDR quote... "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself?"

The best mistake I ever made … I make lots of mistakes that are big, not sure about best. Once I wore mismatching shoes to work. I got new shoes out of the mistake!
From this mistake, I learned … to choose my clothes and shoes the night before going out and not to dress in the dark of my closet. I also learned Payless Shoes has good prices for a girl on a lunch break shopping trip.

My favorite recipe is.... fast, easy and tastes good. I'm the kind of cook that takes short cuts a lot. I buy deli roasted chicken almost weekly for chicken soup, chicken enchiladas, chicken salad, chicken stuffed jalapenos, chicken quesadilla, chicken tacos, chicken biscuit pockets... totally had a Forrest Gump moment.
"I dream of a better world where chickens can cross the road
and not have their motives questioned."

A lesson I learned from my mom … is that gravy should not be as thick as a pancake. If it is, quietly toss it out the back door and never mention it again.
To burn calories, I …

I feel an adrenaline rush when …I find a really good clearance bargain like the event following Christmas where my sister, sister in law, daughter and I were standing in a Michael's isle and the store manager announced everything on that row was 90% off the already discounted prices. Our baskets

My last growing pain was… probably right after a piece of cake. Yep, I'm sure I felt it in my left buttock.

WEEK 16 :
My favorite makeup item is ... the one that hasn't been invented yet. You know the one, it makes you look like a totally hot 20 year old girl when you know you are a totally wrinkled old grandmother. No surgery needed.
The best book I’ve ever read was

Instant happy
I feel an instant happy when I spot the first wildflowers of the season. In Texas it's the state Bluebonnets that get my heart going. I saw these north of Little Elm, Texas on Hwy 423. They flanked the gates to Zion Hill and followed the road all the way to the top.
Instant happy
An instant happy moment.
WEEK #14
- On Saturday morning, I usually try to stay asleep without success then get up and have a cup of coffee and walk about the yard/garden.
- I feel beautiful when my grandchildren look up into my eyes and say "I love you".
- I wake up every morning and wonder what fabulous adventure awaits me today. It's my secret attack on boredom or lack of focus.
- A happy home is where the family wants to be together.
- When I have down time, I do whatever I want. Now that I'm retired, that's pretty much every day! Whoo hoo.

Pumpkin patch invasion!

Beware!
Miniature pumpkins in the flower pot by our back door have matured
into little people and some have even moved into the house.
It is believed [mysterious music]
that it is possible-
that leaving little pumpkins in the store bag over night
that leaving little pumpkins in the store bag over night
with grapevine craft wire and a black sharpie
may have caused the mutation.
may have caused the mutation.
All I know is, they were fine when they were placed in the flower pot.
Then, the dog alerted us that something had changed outside.
And before long, there they were...on the mantel too!
They do seem to be friendly though.
No other mischief has been discovered.
We are keeping watch though...after all Halloween is coming.
I'm really grateful you stopped by.
Hope you discover something wonderful today,
