Apple themed party with a DIY Apple Craft

A crisp breeze is blowing through the sky bringing fall smells with it.  Deep reds, oranges and yellows are showing in the landscape, I close my eyes and remember walking through an apple orchard to pick my own basket full.  I can hardly wait to sink my teeth into the juicy ripe red fruit.  I decided to  invite some friends over for a fall themed party featuring apples.  My theme was born out of an apple challenge and I will share with you a simply adorable and super easy apple craft I whipped together in about an hour plus a cider recipe.

  

DIY Painting floors with stenciled rug design

We moved into a fixer upper a year and a half ago.  From the very moment I walked through the house we purchased I hated the glued down indoor outdoor carpet in the kitchen. The very first thing I saw and the first thing every one who has been here comments on is some pretty dated plaid glued down carpet in the kitchen and laundry areas.  Changing it had to be placed down farther than I liked on the "to do list" but I came up with an interum alternative that both hubs and I are happy with.  An easy floor paint job.

DIY Home Renovation–Painting the Front Door

The 1956 Fixer Upper front door was white and it will eventually be replaced with a windowed door but for now, there’s paint.  There is nothing wrong with a white door, I am just ready to get bold with some color.  Besides, it’s just paint and it can always be repainted, right?  While shopping I picked up several color cards in the paint section and took them home.  I narrowed them down to a color that goes well with the red brick and  I am quite fond of and showed it to hubs.  He has color aversion when it comes to walls and doors so I was surprised when he nodded his head in approval.  I pounced on it and purchased a quart of exterior satin acrylic before he could change his mind.

How to make a Pottery Barn knock off pillow

Summer is a great time to have fun with the kids and celebrate family time together.  
It's the time of year when red white and blue flag crafts are everywhere.  I saw a lovely porch patio with a patriotic flag pillow from Pottery Barn that looked like an easy knock off art project. Last week the Grands spent the week with me.  Every day they knew we’d have Summer Fun activity time and every day the first thing they wanted to know was what the craft project would be.  They like to paint on everything so after we exhausted the rocks in my garden, sticks from the wood pile and paper plates galore I thought they might be ready for something a little more exciting.  Something with a design but easy enough for a 4 and 7 year old.  Being a patriotic weekend coming up in the USA I created a knock off  Pottery Barn pillow with a flag design.

Small Bathroom Make Over

The master bedroom bathroom is a tiny space and was very dark.  The old ochre color paint and brown cabinetry made the space anything but pleasant.  The brighter Glidden "Antique Beige" (GLN09) walls with glossy white cabinetry & trim make a huge difference.  I left the "Rainy Day Blue" ceilings with clouds because I like them.   You can view the complete project at the One Year Project

If you want to try this, it was an easy project too. Paint the ceiling blue, then use wadded up plastic grocery bags to dab on white clouds.
