Six essentials for Movie Night on the Lawn

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SnackSnapShare #SnackStories #CollectiveBias
Once a month during the summer our rural community comes together on the lawn to watch movies. It's a free movie night where all you have to do is bring your own chair, snacks and drinks. There’s nothing quite like a group of people talking quietly on a starry night with the sounds of children laughing, crickets singing and the silence when the movie captures everyone’s attention. When we finally settle down from all the visiting and setting up our seating area for the movie I hand each child’s personalized movie on the lawn snack bag and we make new memories. In this post I’ll share with you how to prepare your own personalized summer snack bags and the essentials you’ll need for your outdoor events.

A Nature Scavenge, Fairy House and Overcoming Arthritis Pain

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.     #WhatInconvenience #CollectiveBias
Most days I wake up a little stiff and find it difficult to keep a steady pace.  Because degenerative arthritis runs in my family I talked with my Doctor about the pain in my knees and hips.  X-rays revealed I have arthritis but he suggested I control the pain with Advil for now.  It is a relief to find a product that works so well for me.  Because my hands have also developed arthritis that make opening bottles and jars difficult I buy Advil EZ open lids.  I won’t let arthritis slow me down or keep me from enjoying activities with the grands.  As a matter of fact the grandkids helped me create a summer list of activities we can do together.  At the top of their wish list is park visits and hikes which is my favorite too!  I am happy to share our nature scavenge hunt that ends with how to build a fairy house.

Family Fun Activities For A Week

I have several grandkids and one great grand that I get the privilege of entertaining during their spring break from school.  This year their weeks don’t happen at the same time but fortunately two of them live pretty close to me so they were able to play with great grand while he was here.  We had a lot of outdoor activities planned.  Gardening with kids, rock collecting, fishing, visits to Copper Breaks State Park, Red River, Red River Valley Museum, Abilene Zoo and a park. But mostly it was about building relationships.

Fall Family Fun in North West Texas Small Towns

When we moved from the Dallas suburbs to a rural community in Northwest Texas I knew there would be cultural shock.  I totally took for granted the access to lots of things to do.  I miss that and so have spent some time researching and scouting out fun things to do during the beautiful fall season.  After all, fall is my favorite time of the year to do stuff with the family.  The nice thing about rural communities is that it’s like a little family reunion at every event.  People greet each other with bear hugs and smiles that tell you they really ARE happy to see you.  I like that.  Here are 10 fall weekend activities in the area of Texas where the Panhandle meets the Red River in the rural towns of Vernon, Quanah, Childress, Crowell and Floydada.
