When my son was about 3 years old, we sat together in the back yard having a snack of fresh apricots. I showed him how to break it in half and then explained how God planned for more apricots by leaving a seed in the fruit to plant. Of course he asked if he could plant it, and off he went. He pushed the seed into a crack he found in the dirt next to the privacy fence. We were both delighted the next summer when it came up! My son is 30 now and that tree is a mature fruit bearer.

Party Appetizers and a Berry Cobbler for my grown up girl.
My daughter is having a big birthday this year. We celebrated with the family Saturday and it was so much fun. Her hubs organized it. It started with appetizers at my house. The table was decorated brightly…because who really enjoys a “black” party when you are turning… old. Well, I did use black table cloth because it made an excellent background for the brighter colors and reflective confetti Ha. Everything was simple and easy to do. A vegetable tray for those who watch what they eat and Caramel Apple Fondue with lots of coatings. I threw in a Rotel Cheese dip too.

Old Fashioned Blackberry Cobbler
One of my Aunts that we fondly call “funny Doris” put out her recipe for blackberry cobbler and my late Grandma’s crust this week. It evokes great memories and makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I asked her if she’d mind if I blogged it, but assured her it is okay if she preferred not.
Here is her response (which I can imagine hearing her voice as she speaks in a slow Texas drawl with some chuckles and laughter). "I don't care, my mother's past caring, and someone might enjoy this old-fashioned way of doing it."

Mason Jar Raspberry Cheese Pie for Two
I was so pleased with the Strawberry Cobbler last week, that I decided to try using some frozen raspberries I had on hand and cutting the recipe to a serving for two. It turned out great.
